Storytelling is at the heart of CPWA. Too often, parents suffer in silence, without support amidst systemic failures. Stories are both evidence and medicine, making visible what has long been hidden and moving us toward collective responsibility, prevention, and healing.

Share your story
Whether you’re a parent, partner, grandparent, birth worker, advocate, or provider, your story matters. By contributing, you help raise awareness, reduce stigma, inspire healing, and show policymakers what families need. Submissions may be shared in writing or via a short call, and may be featured (with your permission) on CPWA’s website, social media, or in advocacy materials.
Storybook Campaign
CPWA’s early-release Breaking the Silence Storybook features 30 stories from parents and providers across California who share their lived experiences with perinatal mental health. These voices reveal common struggles such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and psychosis, while exposing the inequities that leave families unsupported.
This is the beginning of a statewide archive. CPWA continues gathering stories from fathers, partners, LGBTQ+ families, rural and immigrant communities, and those facing other diverse experiences. Together, these stories will help shape policy advocacy—including delivery of the Storybook to Governor Newsom in 2026 to support SB 626 and broader reforms.
